Douban Scraper

Export the Douban Top 250, movie lists, and short comments to Excel

DataLens is a free Chrome extension that exports Douban (豆瓣) movie lists and short comments to Excel or CSV — no code, no Douban API. It works on the Top 250 chart, the movie explore and search result lists, the cinema coming-soon list, and a film's short comments and reviews, capturing titles, ratings, rating counts, years, genres, and comment text.

  • Free to install
  • 100 free points when you sign in (1 point = 1 row)
  • Runs in your own browser — signed-in pages work
  • Export Excel, CSV or JSON

The Top 250 in one table

On movie.douban.com/top250, rank, title, director and cast line, year, country, genre, rating, rating count, and the one-line quote each become a column, and DataLens pages through the whole chart for you.

Short comments and reviews, row by row

A film's short comments and reviews export one row per entry: username, star rating, text, helpful votes, and date — ready for word-frequency or sentiment analysis.

Your own Douban session

DataLens runs inside your browser with no proxies and no cloud servers fetching the page, so whatever Douban shows you while you are logged in is what gets collected.

Real-world use cases

A film blogger exports the full Douban Top 250 and builds pivot tables by decade, genre, and country for a data-backed article on which films Chinese audiences rate highest.

A media studies student exports the short comments of one film, groups them by star rating, and runs a word-frequency analysis for a term paper — without writing a Python crawler.

A cinema programming team exports the coming-soon list for its city, with release dates, genres, and want-to-watch counts, to see which upcoming titles are drawing the most interest.

How it works

  1. 1

Open the Douban page you want in Chrome: movie.douban.com/top250, the movie explore list or a movie search, the cinema "coming soon" list, or a film's short comments at movie.douban.com/subject/<id>/comments. Log in to Douban first if you plan to collect comments.

  2. 2

Click the DataLens icon in the toolbar. The AI detects the repeating films or comments and proposes columns such as title, rating, rating count, year, and genre. Untick the columns you don't need; detecting the list and previewing columns are free.

  3. 3

Start the scrape. DataLens follows Douban's pagination or "load more" button and keeps adding rows. Stop whenever you like and export to Excel (.xlsx), CSV, or JSON.

Frequently asked questions

Short answers to what people usually ask before installing.

Do I need the Douban API or a Python crawler to scrape Douban?

No. DataLens is a Chrome extension that reads Douban pages as they appear in your browser, so scraping Douban with it needs no Douban API, no Python script, and no selector or proxy setup.

Can I export the Douban Top 250 to Excel?

Yes. Open movie.douban.com/top250 and run DataLens. It pages through all 10 pages of the chart and exports rank, title, rating, rating count, year, genre, and more to Excel (.xlsx), CSV, or JSON. At 1 point per row, the full Douban Top 250 is 250 points — more than the 100 free points a new DataLens account starts with.

Can I export Douban short comments?

Yes. Open the film's short comments page on Douban and DataLens collects username, star rating, comment text, helpful votes, and date for each comment, page by page. It can only collect the comments Douban actually shows you: Douban limits how far back the comment list can be paged, more so when you are not logged in, so log in before you start.

Does the Douban scraper work when I'm logged in?

Yes. DataLens runs inside your own browser session, so it reads Douban exactly as your logged-in account sees it, without proxies or cloud servers. Please follow Douban's terms of use and collect only what you need.

Is the Douban scraper free?

DataLens is free to install, and new accounts get 100 free points. Each scraped row costs 1 point, so your first 100 Douban films or comments are free; detecting the list and previewing columns cost nothing.
